My wife and I moved here 30 years ago from another part of Tampa because of the schools. Our children were young at the time, and the relocation to Davis Islands meant that they could attend Gorrie, Wilson and Plant, and avoid being bused. At the time it was a tremendous sacrifice as our house payment jumped about $500 a month (1978), but we didn’t regret it a moment as they gained invaluable learning that has served them well through life.

I moved to Davis Islands in the early 80’s because it had a yacht club on one end where I could sail my sailboat and a hospital on the other end where I could work then live in the middle. It’s a jewel that needs to be preserved in it’s “Mayberry” feeling which thousands of people agreed was their love of it!
