A plane approaching Peter O. Knight Airport struck the mast of a sailing vessel and crashed 50 feet short of the runway.

The skipper of the sailboat, Windseeker, was not hurt.  Both the plane’s pilot and his passenger were treated for injuries.

With the Yacht Club and marina adjacent to the airport, it’s a bit of a surprise this doesn’t happen more often.  Some have surmised that the plane was coming in too low.
