Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour (HJGT) is working closely with the Tampa Bay Sports Commission to bring its inaugural season-ending Tour Championship to Saddlebrook Resort on Dec. 6-7, 2008. The invitational event will feature 84 of the Tourâs top players from the southeast United States.
The Tour Championship is open to the public for spectators at no charge. The first tee-off will be Saturday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 a.m. on the Saddlebrook course.
âThis will be our biggest and best field of the year,â said Mario Conte, executive director of the HJGT. âWe will have more than six states represented at Saddlebrook and will feature a year-end banquet to honor our top players.â
The year-end banquet and award ceremony will take place Saturday at 6 p.m. to recognize the top performers in the boys and girls divisions of the 2008 season and also name the player of the year.
On Sunday, a small award ceremony will follow the Tour Championship to announce the winners. The top three players in each age division will receive automatic bids into the 2009 HJGT Tour Championship as well as National Junior Golf Scoreboard Ranking. Also, the top 10 players in each age division will receive points toward the 2009 Points Race.
The HJGT is a regional, year round junior golf tour that was founded with the intention of providing golfers between the ages of 12-18 an opportunity to play exceptional courses in a competitive environment. The HJGT also works to gain maximum exposure for the junior golfers to help them obtain collegiate scholarships.
